A business holiday card should make the recipient feel appreciated, not like they have opened another sales message. The right words depend on who will read them. A long-term client, a team member, and a supplier should not receive the same note with one name changed.
Start with the recipient. Then choose a message and visual that fit that relationship.
Choose the Recipient Before You Choose the Design
This quick selector keeps the wording and design pointed in the same direction.
| Recipient | Tone to use | What to thank them for | Visual direction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long-term client | Warm and professional | Continued trust or a shared milestone | Refined winter scene, muted brand colors, generous text space |
| New customer | Friendly and concise | Choosing your business | Simple seasonal still life with a short greeting |
| Employee or team member | Specific and appreciative | Their work, judgment, or a real contribution | Team photo or a warm workplace scene |
| Partner or supplier | Equal and collaborative | Reliability, care, or a shared result | Understated paired objects, evergreen details, calm neutral colors |
| Mixed business list | Inclusive and neutral | Their part in your year | Winter greenery, warm lights, or an abstract seasonal background |
The biggest mistake is choosing one polished sentence and sending it to everyone. A client needs to hear that you value their trust. An employee needs to hear that you noticed their work. A partner needs to hear that you value what you built together.
Use This Business Holiday Card Message Formula
You do not need a clever quote. A useful business holiday card message has four parts:
- Greeting: Choose “Happy Holidays,” “Season's Greetings,” or “Merry Christmas” for the audience.
- Specific thanks: Name the trust, work, support, or shared result you appreciate.
- Human wish: Wish them rest, time with people they care about, or a peaceful season.
- Optional forward line: Mention continuing the relationship without turning the card into a pitch.
Use this sentence frame when you are stuck:
[Greeting]. Thank you for [specific reason]. We hope [human holiday wish]. [Optional forward-looking line].
Keep the signoff simple: “From everyone at [Company],” “With appreciation,” or the names of the people who worked directly with the recipient.
Specific does not have to mean long. “Thank you for trusting us with the Riverside launch” feels more sincere than a paragraph about valued relationships.
Business Holiday Card Messages for Clients and Customers
Client messages should put appreciation before promotion. Leave offers, discount codes, and calls to book a meeting for a separate campaign.

Client Card Design Direction
Keep the card and its message at the center of the image. A real desk, natural paper texture, and one restrained seasonal detail can make the result feel considered without turning it into an advertisement.
The three prompts below include exact example wording. Results can vary, so check every letter before using an image.
Realistic editorial lifestyle photograph, 16:9 landscape. One horizontal
business holiday card rests on a lightly worn dark-walnut desk and fills most
of the frame. One adult hand in a navy wool sleeve lightly holds a corner.
Use warm-ivory textured paper, a subtle evergreen detail, natural winter light,
and believable paper and wood texture. The card must display exactly:
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Another year of working together has given us plenty to appreciate.
Thank you for your continued trust, and warm wishes from all of us.
Use elegant forest-green hand lettering for the greeting and neat, readable
deep-navy handwriting for the body. No additional text, logo, watermark,
perfect studio symmetry, CGI, 3D render, or graphic mockup.Holiday Card Messages for Employees and Staff
An employee card should recognize work that actually happened. A general thank-you is better than silence, but one real detail makes the note feel written for the person receiving it.
For an Individual Team Member
Your judgment and steady work made a real difference this year. Thank you for everything you brought to the team, and enjoy a well-earned holiday break.
With a Specific Contribution
Thank you for [specific contribution]. The care you put into that work helped the whole team. We hope the holiday season gives you time to rest and celebrate.
From a Small Business to the Whole Team
To everyone who kept things moving on busy days and quiet ones, thank you. We are proud of what this team accomplished together. Warm holiday wishes from [Company].
For a Remote or Distributed Team
We may not share the same office, but your support and reliability are felt across the team. Thank you for the work you did this year, and happy holidays from [Company].
Christmas Wording for a Team That Celebrates
Merry Christmas, and thank you for the care you brought to [specific contribution]. We hope you enjoy a restful celebration with the people closest to you.
Employee Card Design Direction
Show the finished card in a believable work moment without inventing a team photo. Keeping faces outside the frame lets the appreciation message remain the subject.
Realistic editorial lifestyle photograph, 16:9 landscape. One horizontal
holiday card fills most of the frame and is held naturally by two hands during
a quiet work break. Show only the hands and charcoal knitted sleeves. Use
warm-ivory textured paper, a thin muted-gold line, a small evergreen detail,
an oak table, soft window light, and believable paper and skin texture. The
card must display exactly:
WARM HOLIDAY WISHES
Your judgment and steady work made a real difference this year.
Thank you for everything you brought to the team, and enjoy a well-earned
holiday break.
Use graceful forest-green hand lettering for the greeting and neat, readable
deep-navy handwriting for the body. No additional text, logo, watermark,
visible face, fake team photo, CGI, 3D render, or graphic mockup.The card will feel more personal if the message names a contribution, even when the same base design is used for the whole team.
Holiday Card Messages for Partners and Suppliers
Partner messages should sound equal. Thank the other team for what they made possible, not only for helping your business.
For a Long-Term Business Partner
Thank you for being a steady partner throughout [shared project or period]. We value the way our teams work together and wish everyone at [Partner Company] a peaceful holiday season.
For a Supplier or Vendor
Your care and reliability helped us deliver our work this year. Thank you to everyone at [Partner Company], and warm wishes for the holiday season.
After a Shared Result
Building [specific result] together is something we are proud of. Thank you for the thought and effort your team brought to the work. Happy holidays from [Company].
For a New Partnership
We have enjoyed getting to know your team and starting our work together. Thank you for a strong beginning, and we look forward to continuing after a restful holiday season.
Christmas Wording for a Partner Who Celebrates
Merry Christmas to everyone at [Partner Company]. Thank you for a dependable partnership and a year of work we can be proud of together.
Partner Card Design Direction
Keep the relationship visually equal. Showing one hand on each side of the card gives both parties the same weight while keeping the shared message at the center.
Realistic editorial lifestyle photograph, 16:9 landscape. One horizontal
business holiday card fills most of the frame on a genuinely used dark-oak
meeting table. One adult hand enters from each side and lightly supports an
outer edge with equal visual weight. Use warm-ivory uncoated paper, two small
evergreen details, a restrained champagne-gold line, soft winter daylight,
and believable hands and contact shadows. The card must display exactly:
SEASON'S GREETINGS
Thank you for being a steady partner this year. We value the way our teams
work together and wish you a peaceful holiday season.
Use sophisticated forest-green hand lettering for the greeting and calm,
readable deep-navy handwriting for the body. No additional text, company
names, logo, watermark, handshake, parcels, gift boxes, CGI, 3D render, or
graphic mockup.Do not ask the image generator to recreate a company logo. Add the company name as normal text later, or keep an existing approved brand asset outside this workflow.
Choose Between Business Christmas Card Messages and Inclusive Holiday Wording
Use the wording that fits the people receiving the card.
Choose “Happy Holidays,” “Season's Greetings,” or “Warm wishes this holiday season” when:
- the card is going to a broad or mixed list;
- you do not know what each recipient celebrates;
- the message comes from a company to an international audience;
- appreciation, not a specific celebration, is the main point.
Choose “Merry Christmas” when:
- you know the recipient celebrates Christmas;
- you have a close enough relationship for the wording to feel natural;
- the card and its imagery are intentionally Christmas-specific.
The visual should follow the same choice. Winter greenery, warm lights, muted gold, and abstract seasonal details work for a broad audience. Christmas trees, stockings, and explicitly Christmas wording make sense for a Christmas card. Do not pair a broad greeting with imagery that sends a much narrower message unless that choice is intentional.
Turn the Message and Design Into a Finished Card Image
Write the message before generating the visual. That tells you how much empty space the design needs and prevents you from squeezing a three-line note into a busy corner.
1. Finalize One Message for Each Audience
Create separate versions for clients, employees, and partners. Replace bracketed details with something real, then read each version aloud. Remove any sentence that sounds like a pitch.
2. Choose an Existing Photo or Create a Base Visual
Use an existing photo when exact faces and a real moment matter. Create a fresh PhotoGPT image when you need a new seasonal visual with room for the message.
If you want the broader step-by-step process, use our complete greeting-card creation guide. This page stays focused on business wording and design decisions.
3. Check the Generated Wording
The examples above ask for exact wording in the generated card. Check every letter, line break, and punctuation mark before using the result. If the wording is incorrect, generate a clean version without words and add or correct the message in the next step.
4. Add or Correct the Message in Text-in-Image
When you need to add, replace, or correct wording, open PhotoGPT Text-in-Image and choose the new visual from your PhotoGPT creations, or upload an existing JPG, JPEG, or PNG.
Use separate text layers for the greeting, the thank-you line, and the signoff when that makes the layout easier to control. In Front keeps important wording on top of the image. Behind Subject can work for a decorative greeting when the overlap does not hide key words. You can adjust the font, weight, color, spacing, shadow, rotation, and position.
Use this workspace when the generated wording needs to be added or corrected.
5. Check the Card Like the Recipient Will
Before downloading, check:
- the recipient and company names are spelled correctly;
- the greeting matches what the recipient celebrates;
- the thank-you names a real reason;
- every line is readable at the size you will share it;
- no generated detail looks distracting or inappropriate;
- the card contains appreciation, not a hidden sales request.
The current Text-in-Image workflow downloads the card as one PNG image at the working size of the source. Start with a larger source if you need a larger result. If another company will print the card, check its file requirements separately before sending the image.
Keep a Holiday Card Separate From a Holiday Campaign
This card has one job: thank the person receiving it. It does not need a promotion, product list, event banner, or social campaign plan.
If you are also building email headers, social posts, product images, or other seasonal marketing assets, use the separate guide to planning Christmas campaign visuals with PhotoGPT. Keeping those jobs on different pages also makes the card easier to write and easier to read.
For a personal card to family or friends, use the separate collection of Christmas card design ideas and prompts.
Final Review Before You Send the Card
Use this final test:
- Client: Does the message thank them for trust rather than ask for more business?
- Employee: Does it recognize work a real person would remember doing?
- Partner: Does it describe the relationship as shared work?
- Wording: Does the holiday greeting fit the audience?
- Design: Is the message easy to read without covering the main subject?
If all five answers are yes, the card is ready. Start with the recipient, write the thanks, choose a visual that leaves the words room to breathe, and use Text-in-Image to place the exact message where it belongs.
